FANCON STUDENT FILMMAKER CHALLENGE!

STEP 1 Make your film! Write it! Shoot it! Edit it!

STEP 2 Submit! Send your film to dyanne@unltd.me. Please send a private link on Vimeo or YouTube no later than April 3, 2018 at 5pm. Semi-finalists will be selected and announced at noon on April 6, 2018.

STEP 3 Hustle Votes! Semi-finalist films will be posted on the Northern FanCon Facebook and YouTube channels. Engage your fans to gain votes between April 6 and April 13, 2018. Project scores will be based on a combination of votes and the quality of production. All semi-finalists will receive 2 complimentary 3 day passes to Northern FanCon.

STEP 4 Finalists Announced! On April 17,2018, finalists will be announced on the Northern FanCon Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channels.

STEP 5 See the films & the Winners! Attend to watch finalist projects on the big screen and see winners awarded live at Northern FanCon on Sunday May 13,2018! Winners will be awarded one $2000 tuition credit per category for any program at SchoolCreative as follows:

– Best Picture
– Best Director
– Best Screenwriter
– Best Male Performance
– Best Female Performance

RULES

Entrants must be a high school student(s) enrolled in a secondary institution in Northern BC as defined in the attached map below.

All entries must range from 1 minute (minimum) to 7-minutes (maximum) in length.

Productions and all parts of the film must be completed within the given time-frame.

The content and treatment of the films made must be appropriate for an audience of grades 7-12. Graphic content is not acceptable, and the use of strong language should be avoided.

All films must be produced, directed, planned, and technically executed entirely by students. The involvement of parents, teachers and professionals is limited to non-creative roles (i.e. technical advice, funding, etc.) with an exception of actors so long as they are not performing in lead roles.

By entering this festival, you are granting Northern FanCon non-exclusive rights to retain an archive copy of your production for the purposes of exhibition, promotion, and education. Submissions must be made via a private screener link on Vimeo or YouTube.

NO ENTRIES AND OR FINAL SELECTIONS WILL BE RETURNED.

Winners in all categories will be announced at the event. A member of the filmmaker team must be in attendance to receive prize. If you are not able to attend, you will be disqualified.

ALL SUBMITTED FILM FILES MUST BE EXPORTED AND LABELED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS:

Export: H.264 codec, 720p preferred Labelled/Email: Film title, filmmaker, length
